NYATEP, NYSEDC Honor RTMA Executive Director at Partners for Workforce and Economic Development Conference in Rochester
Rochester – The New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP) and New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) today honored Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA) Executive Director Bob Coyne with the 2024 Economic and Workforce Development Partnership Award. Coyne was among one of six honored this year at the conference’s awards luncheon.
Coyne was nominated for his knowledge of the local workforce and economic development fields and his ability to collaborate with partners across the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region. His efforts have benefited the local manufacturing workforce and economy while providing opportunities for those in underserved and underrepresented communities.
Coyne previously served the RTMA as its Board President from 2014 to 2018 then later joined the Association as its Director of Workforce Development. He then went on to develop the RTMA’s regional sponsorship of the New York State Registered Apprenticeship Program as one of the largest in the state. Coyne also co-created the Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program (FLYAP) as a way to develop the pipeline and introduce the next generation of advanced manufacturing professionals.
Coyne was named the RTMA’s Executive Director in 2021 and continued to grow the Association’s apprenticeship programs and collaborated with workforce partners to create pre-apprenticeships programs. He then created the ROC With Your Hands career exploration event. Under his leadership, ROC With Your Hands has become the region’s largest career exploration event for middle and high school students.
