Why this trade?

I have been asked this question many times and my answer always revolves around one thing and that is pride!

When you're faced with challenging tasks, you must develop a process that ensures a successful result and to experience success is what I seek in my everyday endeavors. You can walk away proud after a days work when you know you been successful.

What I love about this job

As a tool maker, nothing is cut and dry, so you're always pushing the limits of possibility and raising the bar for the competition. And being that manufacturing is so competitive these days, being the best is just something I want and enjoy working towards.

What do I want to do in the future?

Would someday like to run my own shop designing and manufacturing motocross bikes.

Hobbies

Cars, Motor sports Motocross.

Opportunties

RTMA is pleased to work closely with various schools and colleges in the area to help further education and job opportunities in manufacturing.

At the Applied Technologies Center of Monroe Community College, prospective manufacturing job candidates can benefit from practical, hands-on training leading to a Certificate or Associate Degree in the Precision Tooling and Machining Program.

Part of MCC's mission is to assist students with the transition into the workforce. We work with over 200 area employers to assist students with employment after completion of the program.

Many of our graduates are employed with companies such as MWI Inc., B & B Precision Machining, Car Engineering & Manufacturing, Gillette Machine, Gleason, Kodak, Nationwide, Parlec, Peko, PGM, Southco, Trident, etc.

All Tooling and Machining courses have been approved by the New York State Apprenticeship Council and Federal Department of Labor as technical-related instruction for students enrolled in the local tooling and machining apprenticeship programs. This program is also recognized by members of the Rochester Tooling and Machining Association (RTMA) and other area manufacturers as technical related and continued education instruction.

These programs are offered in partnership with the Rochester Chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association (RTMA)

About Us

The Rochester Tooling and Manufacturing Association (RTMA) is regarded as one of the most technologically advanced and diverse clusters of contract machining and manufacturing associations in the United States. Along with the Upstate New York Tool and Manufacturing Association, it is currently comprised of 255 companies in the Upstate New York region.

The Rochester Region is home to many major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMS) which have a history of outsourcing work to the RTMA group of manufacturing firms. Xerox, Kodak, Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson, McGard, Servotronics, Prestolite, Chevy and American Axle are examples of just a few of these OEMS. This group of OEMs have assisted in the launch of new products, establishing production, improving production quality, reducing overall costs, and adding value to an organization. Corporations have also achieved a competitive advantage by using RTMA member companies.

When customers use the customized RTMA Request for Proposal (RFP) system to leverage complementary services of our group of engineering, tool and die, plastics, and manufacturing firms, it is always a perfect fit. The RTMA guarantees cost-effective, high-quality results for any project whether it's a small job or a large one.

The RTMA membership is perfectly aligned to meet any customer needs. It can be a project for high-volume parts production, a short-run assembly, a complicated engineering design, or an automated manufacturing process job. There is one single-point contact when utilizing multiple members for all services. To learn more about an RTMA membership, click here.

If you'd like to contact us or receive more information on the RTMA and our membership, please complete the form below.

The RTMA plays a key role in providing Upstate New York with vital business development, quality job opportunities, education and management information. Our primary membership goal is to help RTMA members gain exposure to projects and contracts that may not have been readily available to them or that they didn't know about. The RTMA can now achieve this goal with the implementation of an OEM RFP System Database. The OEM RFP System Database allows OEMS to search the entire RTMA membership profile database for specialized services and submit a Request For Proposal (RFP) to allow members to bid on a specific project/job.

RTMA Members

Businesses wanting to keep pace with a rapidly changing global marketplace should consider a membership with the RTMA. Our members are committed to the future of the American manufacturing industry and provide the opportunity to share ideas and grow through business experiences.
